Weekly Update 105

Ahhhh… Oh, excuse me. I’m just enjoying my break. Spring Break is here and that means a week of no kids or angry parents. Despite how fun that might sound I have had a problem with enjoying breaks in the past. Since I became a teacher I have over-thought my time away from the classroom to the point of obsession which tends to result in a nigh catatonic state of decision paralysis. I want to enjoy my time so if I don’t make a decision on how too soon I will be wasting my time.

I have had some good breaks since my first year but I am still fighting the decision paralysis demon. Oh, and I am a writer who is looking for an agent. That must be why you are here.

In my writing life I have not had the great moment of getting an agent. I don’t know what I would do if I did, but I am sure you would be able to tell just from looking at my website.

In my normal, personal life I beat two indie games back to back! Indie Games are games made independently from a major game studio, and they have been around for years. I never liked Indie games as a kid because they never felt as polished or as cool as bigger games (Triple A Games), but as time has worn on Indie games have only gotten better and better. Most are considered art more than the biggest Triple A Games and I love when games are art.

The first game I played was Mouthwashing. I heard of the game years ago and finally decided to get it for the Steam Spring Sale. Mouthwashing is an emotional psychological horror game that absolutely destroyed my world. I went in blind (not knowing anything about the story) and so should you. But once you do play it, you should find all of the wonderful Tik Toks made by the fans!

The second game I played was The Forgotten City. This one is a weird one because it first started as a mod for Skyrim years and years ago. The same team that made the mod designed the entire game, preserving most of the story beats from the mod. The game is… I wish I could play it for the first time again. I just love the environment and the characters and the story… I had a dream I was there the night I beat it! Just like Mouthwashing there are some great twists and revelations that I don’t want to spoil here, so go play it. Both games are very short and well worth your time.

Alright, time to get back to break! See you next week!
